PETITION LAUNCHED TO SAVE ILKESTON FAMILY PRACTICE AND GP WALK IN CENTRE
Campaign to save GP service used by more than 1,500 residents of Ilkeston

Following the shock announcement on Wednesday that the Family Practice and GP Walk In Centre based at Ilkeston Community Hospital will close on 28 February 2013, a petition has been launched so patients can voice their opinion, and say ‘NO’ to the planned closure.

With no consultation taking place with affected patients prior to the announcement, the campaign provides a voice to those affected.

The campaign has received a fantastic response, and in less than 24-hours more than 75 people have joined the Facebook page and 40 people have signed the online-petition.

People are invited to visit the website - www.saveilkestongp.co.uk where further information can be found about how to sign the online petition.

In addition, a request will be made to NHS Derbyshire County to set up a meeting for local residents, to explain why they have taken the decision, and provide concerned patients with details of how they will be provided with a service in the future, which will not be to a lesser standard.
